Food Safety and Allergy Management

It can be scary to have an emergency during class. The more we know, the more peace of mind we can have to handle situations that come up. In this training we will review best practices for food safety including:

• Choking hazards
• Signs of mild allergic reactions
• Signs of severe allergic reactions
• Review of King County allergy care plans
• Role playing situations with epipen trainers
  

At the end we will have a team quiz bowl competition to test your knowledge!

Developmental Milestones and parent conversations

As childcare teachers we love celebrating the growth of our students. Sometimes we have concerns especially when there are big contrasts in development in the same class. The CDC Milestones are a great resource for assessing development and can give us a common language to communicate with families.

In this 1 hour training we will review the milestones for the age of your classroom and practice some mock situations and conversations we can have with families. We will have a friendly competition at the end to test what we have learned.

The Science of Handwashing

We know we need to wash our hands, but why is it so important? Let’s dive into the science behind hand washing! You will get to practice your hand washing skills and learn some techniques to teach your students. Content in the class includes:

C is for Cleaning: Best practices in Childcare

We all know we need to clean, but why, and are we doing it right? We will dive into state requirements for cleaning in childcares, sounds boring, but we make it fun with a team competition. Topics we will cover during the training include:

• 3 step cleaning process
• Proper technique for hand washing with student teaching ideas
